Indiana Casinos Begin 24-Hour Gambling

7/15/2003 (Fox 41, Starting today riverboat gamling is a 24-hour business for most Indiana casinos.

The Indiana Gaming Commission ruled last Friday that casinos can stay open 24 hours a day instead of 21 hours a day.

That’s when Belterra and Argosy Casinos began their round-the-clock gambling.

Legislators hope the extra hours will bring in an additional $10-million in taxes from Indiana casinos.

Opponents fear problem gamblers will continue to lose more and more money.

Seven of Indiana’s ten casinos will operate around the clock.
